Shilka was born in the Novosibirsk Zoo on December 11, 2013 from a pair of polar bears Kay and Gerda. Shilka became the first white bear born in the Novosibirsk Zoo in 40 years, according to nsktv.ru. The young bear from the very birth became the favorite animal of the townspeople, her photos filled the Internet.
